Family Resource Center of Raleigh is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual NC Fatherhood Conference – Building Our Future Through The Lives Of Our Children. This conference is intended to promote and uplift fathers from all over the state of North Carolina. Workshops at the conference will offer diverse perspectives on fatherhood experiences.

A Look Back At Last Year’s Conference

The 2014 Fatherhood Conference was such a phenomenal event! Across the great state of North Carolina (from New Bern to Charlotte), over 400 conference attendees convened on Saturday, June 14, 2014 to become more enlightened, equipped, and empowered to support fatherhood at home and in the community.

Throughout the day, conference attendees heard engaging, educational remarks from Patrick Patterson (Senior Manager, National Fatherhood Clearinghouse) and William Lassiter (Deputy Commissioner, NC Department of Public Safety), participated in a variety of workshops addressing critical fatherhood issues, and showcased admiration and appreciation with several standing ovations of the knowledge gained from the conference keynote speaker “American’s Most Trusted Educator” Dr. Steve Perry.

Congratulations to our 2014 Trailblazers Darryl Lester, Levelle Moton, William “Billy” Lassiter and to the 2014 “Father of the Year” Jeffery Saunders.

Again, thank you so much for the support given to this year’s conference. We look forward to seeing you at the 2015 Fatherhood Conference on Saturday, June 20,2014.

Sincerely,

Kim M. Best, Executive Director

2014 Youth Summit Pictures With Dr. Steve Perry & Tray Chaney

Our 2014 Youth Summit was held on Friday June 13, 2014 on the campus of NC State University. This event featured food and fun for kids of all ages from several youth groups in our community.

Attendees were treated to encouraging words and a musical selection from actor/rapper Tray Chaney from the hit HBO series “The Wire”. Tray challenged the youth to follow their dreams and never give up when things are not going the way that they would like them to. Dr. Steve Perry also gave a very inspiring message to the children about academic success, and beating the odds of becoming another statistic.
